It is after 24 years that we will see a Grand Slam without Serena, Federer, and Nadal. Though sweeping conclusions may be premature, it does seem like a sign of the changing of the guard. Ahead of the US Open 2021, the Williams sisters have reached a historical pedestal in the world of tennis. It has been 20 years since the legendary final between Serena and Venus in the 2001 US Open.
The two legends have marked an era of high-level, brilliant, and dominating tennis. Venus Williams was supposed to be seen in the main draw of the upcoming Grand Slam, however, she has recently withdrawn. In addition, Serena too has announced that she won’t be participating in the US Open after consulting with her medical team.
2001 was the beginning of an era that brought forth the names of the Williams sisters. Both of the American legends have since broken down records and dominated the game for decades.

Both the sisters have been a constant motivation for each other and they push the other to become a better version of themselves. They are the most decorated siblings in the history of tennis. Serena is the first among all active players in Grand Slam singles titles (23), titles (73), and Venus (7 majors, 49 titles,) is second.
Currently, fans are hopeful to see Serena beat all the records and become the highest individual Grand slams titleholder. She is only 1 slam away to tie with the legendary Margaret Court. We’ll have to wait a while longer to see if Serena can get back to her best.
