2021 has been a breakthrough year for Leylah Annie Fernandez. She erupted on the tennis scene after her runners-up finish at the US Open last year. On her way to the final in that tournament, the Canadian defeated the likes of Naomi Osaka, Aryna Sabalenka, and Angelique Kerber.
Since then, the 19-year-old has become a household name on the WTA circuit. The upcoming star’s fantastic season hasn’t gone unnoticed. Various brands across the globe have been looking to partner with her.

Gatorade announces partnership with Leylah Fernandez
The American brand announced yesterday that it has entered a partnership with Leylah. Furthermore, with regard to this announcement, Lourdes Seminario, who is the Senior Director of Marketing at PepsiCo Canada, was all praise for the Canadian.
He said, “Leylah is everything we look for in a Gatorade athlete. We are proud to have Leylah join the Gatorade family and fuel her journey as a young athlete playing with so much heart and skill.”

Leylah was excited to be a part of the Gatorade roster. Reacting to this announcement, the left-handed Canadian said, “I’m honored to be a part of an organization that helps fuel athletic performance and is invested in the initiatives I’m passionate about, so we can work together collaboratively.”

This announcement comes on the back of Lululemon declaring her as the first global tennis ambassador. Moreover, Google, through the company’s Pixel phone, collaborated with Leylah the very next day after Lululemon’s announcement.
The Canadian at the Australian Open 2022
Despite having a fantastic 2021 season, the 19-year-old could not overcome the first hurdle at the opening Grand Slam of the season. She lost to the local girl Maddison Inglis 6-4, 6-2 in an hour and 23 minutes. Leylah failed to convert any of the three break-points that were on offer. Moreover, she committed as many as six double-faults and her first serve percentage was only 60% while her opponent’s 75%.
