Naomi Osaka is one of the most popular tennis players in the WTA circuit. Not only has she won four Grand Slam titles, she is also vocal about a lot of off-court activities. She is an activist and a proponent of mental health in athletes. She is also the other half of the star couple of herself and Grammy-nominated rapper, Cordae.

Osaka and Cordae have been dating for quite some time now. The two are extremely supportive of each other’s work. Recently, in a radio interview with Breakfast Club, he opened up on his relationship with Osaka, and the implications it has on their professional lives as well.

He talked about how both of them have their own ‘individual sports’ to concentrate on. He also mentioned that both of them respect the other’s art too much to have any issues with it.

Naomi Osaka’s boyfriend promotes new album

Cordae released a new album called From a Bird’s Eye View recently. Naomi Osaka, like the doting girlfriend, mentioned it during one of her matches at the Australian Open 2022. She wrote the letters FABEV on the camera-glass, after her second-round match at the Happy Slam, against Camila Osorio.

Osaka used her victory as a moment shout-out to her boyfriend’s sophomore studio album, which dropped in January 2022.

In the promotional event for the album, an interviewer asked Cordae if his relationship with Naomi Osaka makes people put him under the microscope as well. After an initial gag, regarding a recording button, he opened up about the implications.

“I try to just keep the personal life personal and private you know. That’s why you ain’t gonna see, like, you’re not gonna see too much of my personal life. You ain’t gonna see like my mom on my Instagram. I try to keep that separate,” he said.

He had reiterated the same sentiment before. He spoke about how he holds a relationship in a sacred space, and how the loss of privacy in that regard lessens its sanctity significantly.

The host also asked whether Cordae has ever written a song that was about the Japanese tennis star, and not released it. He replied to this cryptically and said that the ‘we’ will have to wait and see. “I don’t know man, we gotta see. Listen to the album from a bird’s-eye view. Let’s see. Thank you. Appreciate it,” he added.
