A few days ago, Serena Williams announced that she will play her last tournament at this year’s US Open. Notably, the American tennis player announced her retirement through an essay in the September edition of Vogue magazine.

Recently, she gave an interview to Vogue where she looked back at some of the best memories of her life. In that interview, she revealed one funny story about her dress at the Vanity Fair party at the Oscars, earlier this year.

In the Vogue Show called, ‘Life in Looks’, Serena looked at her silver-colored dress, which looked stunning. Speaking about that dress, she said, “So this dress was never meant to be. I actually wore this dress two weeks prior to the Critic’s Choice Awards. So, this was actually a very long Versace gown. For the Oscars, I was going to wear, I had two options; one of the options didn’t work.“

Later, she called her designer and asked her for advice. “So the night before I called Donatella and I’m like ‘I don’t know what to do, my dress doesn’t fit, I have nothing to wear to Vanity Fair. She’s like ‘what if we take that dress that we made for Critic’s Choice, cut it and then just make a fresh dress’. They literally chopped it and they took off the straps and Voila! It was a whole new dress. But I did learn a lesson from that, always have backups,” she further said.

It is worth noting that both Venus and Serena attended the Oscars, as their film ‘King Richard’ received six Oscar nominations. In the end, Will Smith bagged the Oscar for best actor.
