The saddening news of the sudden demise of a former Ghana national champion shattered a slew of fans. The former Ghana Lawn Tennis Association champion was known for her remarkable triumphs in the 70s and 80s. Notably, the entire tennis community is deeply saddened by the death of the former national tennis star who was also the wife of the late Justice, Joseph Kingsley-Nyinah, a former Electoral Commissioner of Ghana.

The former national champion’s demise deeply saddens the tennis community

The former Ghana Lawn Tennis Association champion’s funeral service was recently held at the St. John Methodist Church, Tantra Hill. She was 90 when she was laid to rest, as reported by the GBC Ghana online. The former national tennis star was very young when she joined the Adabraka Tennis Club owing to her passion for the game.

Later, Madam Georgina Amoafi Kingsley Nyinah was known for her remarkable performance against Victoria Dowuona in 1976. With her prowess at the age of 44, Mrs. Kingsley-Nyinah managed to clinch the national title by outclassing a strong opponent who was also the tournament favorite.

It was a three-set thriller in which she prevailed with her sheer brilliance and determination against an 18-year-old player. Mrs. Kingsley-Nyinah reached the unprecedented heights of her illustrious journey after winning the Ghana Lawn Tennis Association Women’s Singles title.

After playing her farewell match, the former national champion took up some administrative roles for the tennis associations in Ghana. She was a part of the board of the Ghana Lawn Tennis Club for a long period. Along with that, Mrs. Kingsley-Nyinah also served the National Sports Council after she moved away from the tennis court.

During her illustrious journey, she has hugely contributed to the tennis community in Ghana. Notably, a lot of fans were devastated when they found out about Madam Georgina Amoafi Kingsley Nyinah’s demise at the age of 90.
