The Pride Month celebrations are underway this month. Recently, tennis legend Martina Navratilova praised the former US Vice President, Mike Pence for his comments on Pride Month.

The month is celebrated to commemorate the years of struggles in the fight for equal rights for the LGBTQ community. The sporting world has also extended these celebrations by observing special events at tournaments.

Wishing everyone on this occasion, the former US Vice President said, “Happy Pride Month, you guys!” Subsequently, Navratilova reacted, saying, “He is baaack. And looking oh so fine…”

Earlier this year, the Lawn Tennis Association had announced a decision to mark the Pride Month with the support of the ATP and the WTA. The LTA will hold the Friday Pride Day at its tournaments, the Nottingham Open, Birmingham Classic, Queen’s, and Eastbourne International.

Talking about the Pride Month, Liam Broady said, “We still live in a time when people don’t always feel like they can be open about their sexual orientation or gender identity, so the more we can do to show support and let them know everything is ok the better.”

In June last year, the Women’s Tennis Association celebrated Pride Month by teaming up with other top athletes. Talking on this occasion, Navratilova said, “I would urge people to just be themselves. You don’t have to announce it. Just say, “You know, by the way, this is the deal and whatever.” And be done with it. And you don’t have to use that energy anymore trying to hide. You’re trying to hide who you are? So, what? So that other people will not be uncomfortable?”
