The 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams, is not just a legendary tennis player but is also a fantastic mother to her five-year-old daughter, Olympia. However, a few years ago, when she had just become a mother, she shared her thoughts on the motherly things that had astonished her. The former WTA world number-one adores her young daughter and never misses an opportunity to spend time with her. She still spends most of her time with her five-year-old kid now that she is retired, creating wonderful memories together.

Serena Williams made an intimate confession about motherhood

Back in 2020, the former tennis player appeared on a show called Game. Set. Chat in which she talked about her perspective on being a mother. In the show, she related how motherly love is different from other affections in the world, while dishing out anxious thoughts about being a mother.

She said, “Well, I mean definitely the connection. The love I have for her. It’s just unparallel to the other love, I have for another human being in general. You know I love my husband so much but it’s a different kind of love. And like also I think that she is so young, like a protection, she can’t do much like it’s my responsibility and my husband’s responsibility to protect her.”

Not only that, but she also acknowledged how she understood her mother’s effort, which she once ignored as a child. Though not the first time, the 23-time Grand Slam champion has discussed motherhood from her perspective. She previously expressed her experience as a mother and her viewpoint on being a mom.

When Williams opened up about her journey as a mother

The American tennis icon spoke about her experience as a mother in an interview for the Be Unstoppable webinar series in 2021. She agreed that being a mother has been a fantastic roller coaster experience and that it is a tremendous job on its own.

She also discussed her relationship with her daughter, Olympia, and how Olympia will occasionally refer to her as a friend, even though she is actually Olympia’s mother. The former world champion mentioned the fact that she and her daughter enjoy spending time together and share an awesome mother-daughter relationship.
