Eugenie Bouchard announces comeback to the WTA tour

Bouchard has announced that she will return to competitive action at the Citi Open in Washington. The tournament acts as a warm-up event for the final Grand Slam of the year, the US Open. In a story on Instagram, Bouchard said, “Hey everyone, I’m so excited to let you all know that my first WTA tournament back will be the Citi Open in Washington D.C.”

“It’s a great event and I have many fond memories from playing there. I also love the city, I love the culture and the history. So I’d like time to explore D.C outside of the tournament whenever I can. I hope to see you guys out there,” she added.

She has not played on the tour since March 2021 and will look to get back to winning ways next month. Bouchard will be a wildcard entry into the tournament along with the likes of Kei Nishikori.
