Coming into the clay season, Coco Gauff has started off with a bang. Currently playing in the Madrid Open, the young American star has booked her place in the third round, thanks to a straight-set win over Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska. However, unlike her first-round double bagel win, she did not perform the same way. After securing a comfortable 5-0 right at the start of the set, she stumbled and it felt like she clearly lost her form.

This allowed her opponent to take the score to 5-4. However, despite a massive 8 double faults, she managed to come out on top and pull the win in her favor. While she managed to take the win in her favor it became quite evident that the fans were not liking what they saw during the first set.

The fans were clearly not happy with what they were seeing on the court. While Coco Gauff did not bring out her best tennis, the fans took a moment to slam the 20-year-old star. One fan came ahead and suggested that he was not at all happy with what he saw. “I have no words with what I’m seeing from @CocoGauff right now,” said the fan who showed clear disappointment.

This fan also seemed confused with the way Gauff started to serve which gave her opponent the chance to make a comeback. “Okay, I don’t know what happened to Coco Gauff’s serve. She’s been hitting too many double faults lately…” said the fan who pointed out at the number of double faults that Gauff did.

This fan again came ahead and highlighted the same issue that Gauff tackled. “@CocoGauff  was up 5-0 a few minutes ago against Yastremska. Now she’s only leading 5-4. Lots of double faults,” said the fan who also criticised Gauff for her double faults.

The comments did not seem to stop as this fan came ahead and suggested that Coco Gauff would have to work on her serve. “Coco Gauff, was 5 0 up Serving for Set.!Back to 5 4. Coco, needs work done on that Serve.!!!!” said the fan.

Last, but not least, this fan did not hold his words back and suggested that Gauff is overrated. “Coco gauff is actually overrated, i no longer stan her,” said the fan who thought that the 20-year-old player’s game was not up to the mark.

Thus, fans from all around the world came ahead and spoke about the blunder that Coco Gauff did today. While she could have hit a bagel in the first set, her sloppy performance denied her the opportunity to establish her supremacy on the game. While some fans took to the media to slam Gauff, there were some who received a heartfelt message from the US Open champion after her win.
