As congratulations are in order for the power couple, Alexis Ohanian and Serena Williams. They married in 2017 and are happily raising their young 5-year-old daughter Olympia. Ahead of their 2023 Met Gala appearance, they also announced Williams’ second pregnancy.

Despite their hectic lifestyles, they also make it a point to spend time together. However, disappointingly for Ohanian, Williams has one peculiar habit when they go out together. The 23-time Grand Slam winner often falls asleep, which Ohanian often captures and proudly shares with the couple’s social media followers. Thankfully for Ohanian and their daughter though, Williams managed to keep herself awake through the entirety of Olympia’s recent ballet recital.

Serena Williams keeps herself wide awake for Olympia’s performance

In the past, Serena Williams’ peculiar sleeping habit may have irked Alexis Ohanian. However, the tech entrepreneur seemed rather impressed with Williams when they attended Olympia’s ballet recital. For a change, Williams didn’t fall asleep, which only goes to show that she’s one of the most supportive mothers out there.

Ohanian couldn’t keep his excitement to himself and took to Instagram to share the development with his followers. In his Instagram post, Ohanian wrote, “You better believe Mama stayed awake for every minute of Jr’s second recital.” He went on to write, “We made sure to be front row.”

Ohanian and Williams’ night out in April turned out to be a lonely affair for the tech entrepreneur

In late April, Ohanian and Williams decided to go for an NBA playoffs date at the Miami Heat Arena. Ohanian would have had a thoroughly enjoyable evening with his wife. However, during the game, Ohanian suddenly found Williams asleep. He shared the moment on Instagram in what turned out to be quite an amusing post.

All in all, hopefully for the couple’s sake, Williams’ staying awake throughout Olympia’s performance marks a new beginning for her. If that does turn out to be the case, Ohanian will certainly be more content.
