In the same interview, Muguruza accepted the fact that she barely managed to escape in both the sets. She highlighted that although she leading comfortably, Hontama continued to show her fighting spirit right till the end of the match. Whatever be the case, the Spaniard seems happy after her advancing through to her fourth semi-final of the season.
“But I’m very happy. I think that the first set was key, because it was very tough. She came back from 4-0 down, and managed to make the end of the first set very tight. Then in the second set, I managed to escape and get an early break, so very happy to be able to close the match in two sets,” concluded the former World No.1 player.
