The entire tennis community is taken aback by Markéta Vondroušová and her outstanding campaign at the ongoing British Slam. While being the unseeded player in the prestigious tournament, the Czech tennis star outclassed some of the big shots in order to proceed one step closer to clinching the Wimbledon Championship singles title. However, during this remarkable run, the former world No. 14 player was not accompanied by her husband, who had some duties for an important member of their family.

The WTA player’s husband is not there in London as he had to take care of their cat back home in Prague. But, now that Vondroušová has reached the finals of the grass-court major event, things are slightly different. She recently revealed why her husband is finally abandoning his catsitting duties to watch her match on a ‘special occasion’.

Her husband, Stepan’s absence during this outstanding campaign has always remained a big question mark for the entire tennis community. Even during her semifinal victory against Elina Svitolina, he didn’t attend her match as he was diligently following his catsitting duties.
But now he will be traveling to London to witness her second Grand Slam final against the sixth-seeded player, Ons Jabeur. In an interview with Tennis Channel, Vondroušová confirmed that there will be a special spectator in the stands, “He’s coming tomorrow with my sister.”

The Czech tennis star made it clear that Stepan has finally abandoned his catsitting duties as they have appointed a cat sitter. Vondroušová added, “She has a cat sitter”
Coincidentally, on the same day as her Wimbledon finals match, the WTA star will celebrate her first wedding anniversary with her partner. Even though her husband was not there in London, she still managed to get some ‘pep talk’ from him during the quarterfinal match.

Vondroušová sought advice from her husband during the thrilling encounter
During her nail-biting match against Jessica Pegula, the Czech tennis star was quite frustrated when she was trailing in the deciding set. Speaking about the same in a recent press conference, Vondroušová revealed she talked to her husband on the phone during a brief stoppage in the match. During that conversation, Stepan told her, “‘try to fight, you are playing good, you are playing a great match’.”
It was that ‘pep talk’ that played a crucial role in the WTA player’s stunning comeback to clinch a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win.
