In a recent revelation, Emma Raducanu finally got the chance to make her way into the main draw of the Australian Open, and that too without playing the qualifiers. An injury to the American player Lauren Davis opened the doors for Raducanu.

Emma Raducanu got a big break! Instead of starting her campaign by playing the qualifiers, she’s going straight into the main rounds of the Australian Open. After Lauren Davis of America announced her withdrawal from the sport due to a shoulder injury, Emma was granted the card to the main draw. It’s a great chance for the 21-year-old tennis star to show off her skills to a larger audience.

The same was posted by the Australian Open on their ‘X’ account. Back in 2021, she amazed everyone by winning the US Open. Now, this new opportunity in the Australian Open might be another important step in her career. After being out of the tennis court for long, she would be hoping to repeat her 2021 heroics and win everyone’s heart.

Her comeback, post the injury hiatus, has been at the 2024 ASB Classic. The past season hasn’t been an ideal one for the tennis star as she had to undergo surgeries and couldn’t participate in three out of the four Grand Slams. Interestingly, her only participation was at the Australian Open which witnessed her losing to Coco Gauff in the second round.

Moreover, Lauren Davis’ exit from the tournament hasn’t been the only one to have given Emma Raducanu a boost for the competition. The turn of events has included some of the big names like Caty McNally, Irina Camelia Begu, and also Petra Kvitova who recently revealed her pregnancy.

Earlier, tennis legend Petra Kvitova announced her withdrawal from the tournament due to her pregnancy. This allowed Tamara Zindansek to get a slot directly into the main round of the Australian Open. Right behind Zidansek was none other than Raducanu who would have got the next slot, should anyone retire.
