Massive $100,000 Move Proves That Serena Williams’ Husband Alexis Ohanian Is One of the Rare Tech Entrepreneurs Who Takes Climate Change Seriously

In the world of tennis, Alexis Ohanian’s fame mostly stems from the fact that he is married to one of the greatest the sport has ever seen, Serena Williams. However, for the rest of the world, Ohanian is fast becoming one of the most successful entrepreneurs and investors. He is one of the staunchest supporters of women’s empowerment and gender equality in sports. Now, he is trying to become the face of climate change awareness. On multiple occasions, Ohanian has acknowledged the catastrophic risks of climate change. His drive to reverse climate change was one of the reasons for establishing his 776 Foundation in 2022.

In a recent Instagram post, Ohanian announced that the 776 Foundation was looking for ‘2023 Climate Fellows’. He also revealed that applicants have limited time on their hands to send in their applications.

Ohanian’s Instagram post mentioned that potential applicants only had a week to send in their applications. In a move that’s sure to motivate applicants, Serena’s supportive husband also promised to give selected applicants $100,000 in grants via the 776 Foundation.

In the post, Ohanian wrote, 🚨You have ONE WEEK LEFT to apply to get $100,000 from me personally via my @776foundation to take a big swing to fight Climate Change as a 2023 #ClimateFellow! 🚨 🌍 Apply from anywhere in the world at 776.org 💪“.

The only downside to the program is that only ‘young people’ are eligible. This is likely to disappoint older people who want to take part in the fight against climate change.

Ohanian’s stance on climate change

The Reddit co-founder Ohanian is one of America’s most successful internet entrepreneurs and investors. However, his success hasn’t gone to his head. He is still very concerned regarding the most pressing issues that humanity is facing today.

In a soon-to-be-released interview with CBS, Ohanian was asked, “You’ve said if you were starting your career today, you would be focused on climate issues?

Ohanian answered the question with, “Yes. If I could do it all over again, I think, yeah, climate tech is the kind of company I would start today.” He also reflects on how the human collective has to unite in keeping climate change at bay. “The greatest existential threat we have is the threat to climate. In many ways, if we don’t solve that problem, nothing else is going to matter in 100 years.”
