‘Matured’ 18-Year-Old Coco Gauff Issues Strong Statement to Emma Raducanu Haters After Thrashing Her at Australian Open – ‘People Expecting You to Win..’

In an exciting Australian Open fixture, the 18-year-old WTA star,  Coco Gauff outclassed the British tennis player, Emma Raducanu. After an incredible victory, the American tennis player opened up about the immense pressure faced by a female tennis player while relating herself to Raducanu. In doing so, she gave a strong message to all the critics slamming young players including the 20 years old.

Gauff was asked whether she has created some sort of connection and if she could relate to Raducanu. In her blunt answer, the former world No. 4 player opened up about the criticism faced by young stars like her and the former US Open champion.

After a brilliant victory at the Australian Open, the American tennis player was asked if she could relate to Emma Raducanu as a very young public figure. Coco Gauff answered by saying that she can definitely feel for her. The popular WTA 18-year-old player went on to say that she can kind of relate to her. Gauff feels like Raducanu experienced it on a much bigger level than she did.

However, she added that coming in on the tour at a young age is quite different for young players than others. The American prodigy also said that all of a sudden fans know your name after you play in various events. Notably, she further stated, “people expecting you to win all the time.”

Later on, Gauff talked about her remarkable previous season. She said that it’s something that fans need to remember and be reminded of. The former world No. 4 player added that the fans are often eager to see new faces on the tour. Gauff further gave a strong message to all the critics slamming young stars like her and the British player. She said it’s also a reminder for the people that when they don’t play tennis, they’re just like the other teenagers.

Gauff went on to say that the fans often tell them that they can bounce back while making mistakes on the tour at a young age. Later on, the WTA player said that the fans also need to relate that to tennis. She added that tennis is one such sport where everyone is used to having young players on the tour. Gauff said that she thinks everybody is expecting those players to be at the top of their game.
