The 22-year-old Alycia Parks, who won her first WTA title just a few days ago, recently talked about how her mother helped her to get into tennis. The young tennis player is creating quite an impression in the tennis realm after winning her first WTA title in Lyon. But the question is, how did the rising sensation get into tennis? 

There is no shortage of inspiration for the American rising star who is ready to secure her place in the top 10 by the end of the year. With her first victory at the Lyon Open, she has already reached the 51st position in the WTA ranking.

The world number 51 tennis player recently in an interview with WTA talked about how she started her journey of becoming a tennis player. During the interview, she stressed on how her mother played a very crucial role in her rise on the WTA Tour. This tennis journey goes back to when the young American was in primary school. And she started playing tennis after securing A’s in school and, as a reward for her efforts, her mother got her a racket.

She said, “She just happened to look down and it was two tennis rackets and three tennis balls. She knew me and my sister liked to play outdoors and we had a tennis court in our neighborhood. She took us to the tennis court, and she was reading her book and she just heard the ball going back and forth, me and my sister just kept rallying.”

After years of practice and dedication, the 22-year-old tennis player finally created history by becoming the second American female outside of the WTA top 100 to overcome a player in the top 10. This feat was previously achieved by none other than the 23 Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams herself. Now, after breaking into the professional circuit with her first title, the Parks now dreams of reaching the top 10. 

Parks is ready to fight her way into the top 10 

The world Number 51 is taking it step by step to reach her goal. It’s going to be a year where she will be hoping to make her mark on the Tour and give a tough time to established stars. The 22-year-old has already opened up about her ambition for this season.
