Embracing the concept of “sleep” with a daring fashion statement, Maria Sharapova‘s presence at this year’s Met Gala stunned gracefully. Wearing an ensemble made from opulent bedding fabric by Boll & Branch, Sharapova skillfully blended the realms of elegance and comfort. Although she may not have first been interested in Tenniscore when she was preparing this ensemble, Zendaya’s Challengers surely made her reconsider.

After making her Met Gala appearance, the five-time Grand Slam champion opened up about how she is enjoying attention towards tennis after the release of the movie Challengers. She told Town & Country, “Anything that brings more excitement and attention to tennis makes me incredibly happy. To see it weave through art, entertainment, and culture is wonderful.”

In the captivating movie starring Zendaya, viewers are thrust into the world of tennis competition, where two talented players become involved in a convoluted web of love and ambition. While on the press tour, the lead actress has been seen embracing ‘Tenniscore’, aka outfits inspired by WTA players’ uniforms.

However, while tennis fashion was quite on the surface with Challengers, Maria Sharapova had something else in mind. Instead, her inspiration stemmed from the delicate beauty of flowers blooming in a garden, the green of her dress having no association with tennis balls. However, Sharapova finds herself thrilled by the unexpected resurgence of interest in her sport, as she told Town & Country.

Subsequently, designer Prabal Gurung created a gown that was the perfect combination of elegance and inventiveness, drawing inspiration from the essence of the Costume Institute’s display this year as well as the evening’s dress code. Gurung embraced the delicate spirit of this idea, cleverly fusing natural organic cotton from Boll & Branch into Sharapova’s gown without a visible seam.

This decision demonstrated their dedication to sustainability and environmentally conscious design, in addition to reflecting the subject of reawakening fashion. However, the 37-year-old tennis legend was seen embracing the Met Gala fashion, just a day before the main event itself.

Maria Sharapova embraced Met Gala fashion with robes and bedding

Ahead of the Met Gala, Sharapova shared a sponsored photo on Instagram from her hotel room in New York City, where the brand had replaced all of the bedding and robes and given her personalized pajamas. “Wakey wakey…it’s the morning of the Met Gala ✨,” the Russian tennis star communicated with her 4.6 million fans.

Early that day, Boll & Branch, who have 300,000 Instagram followers, also gave hints about their participation in the Gala. As they hinted in an Instagram Story, “Don’t miss the world’s most luxurious fabric make its red carpet debut on fashion’s biggest night out.”
