Kamala Harris’ husband, Douglas Emhoff, recently made an appearance at the Miami Open quarterfinal match between Danielle Collins and Caroline Garcia. When asked about her thoughts on playing a mixed doubles game with the Second Gentleman of the United States, the American tennis star recently got real about their chances in her post-match conversation.

Emhoff performed the coin toss for the Caroline Garcia vs. Danielle Collins match at the Hard Rock Stadium. Notably, in her post-match on-court interview, the former number 7 player was asked about getting an opportunity to play a mixed doubles match with Emhoff at the French Open. She answered by saying, “We might need a wildcard.”

After defeating her 23rd-seeded French opponent, Caroline Garcia, 6-3, 6-2, in the quarterfinals, Danielle Collins also opened up about how playing a doubles game at the Grand Slam event in Paris might be a ‘little tough.’ The American player said, “French Open might be a little tough after this match, but yeah, we will see. I’d love go get out there.”

During the conversation, Danielle Collins also hailed the Second Gentleman of the United States for his philanthropic endeavors in the racket game. After partnering with the United States Tennis Association, Emhoff will work to bring national health and nutrition programs to communities where tennis is played.

In a historic move in the American sporting community, the USTA recently became the first National Governing Body (NGB) to partner with the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. The announcement was made by Emhoff and special guests from the White House as they joined Brian Hainline, Chairman of the Board and President of USTA.

As they teamed up for a noble endeavor, the PCSFN and USTA will now collaborate to promote physical and nutrition programs for all tennis individuals, regardless of background or ability.
