Another edition of the Miami Open is back with some spectacular opening-round fixtures at the Hard Rock Stadium. On her home turf, the American tennis star Danielle Collins will square off against her compatriot and the former number 27 player Bernarda Pera in an exciting round-of-128 game.

The outdoor hard court event, which is part of the WTA 1000 category, features some of the biggest names vying for glory in Miami Gardens. Now, with the likes of Collins and Pera looking to secure a place in the round of 64, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in this blockbuster All-American clash.

After a round-of-64 defeat at the BNP Paribas Open, Danielle Collins will now participate in this WTA 1000 event, where she is an unseeded participant. In her previous campaign in her home tournament, the American tennis star brushed aside Erika Andreeva before she got knocked out by the number one seed and the eventual champion, Iga Świątek, in the second round.

Bernarda Pera, on the other hand, is coming to the Miami Open after her second-round defeat at the Indian Wells Masters. After her qualifying round wins at ‘Tennis Paradise,’ the 29-year-old player went on to beat the Aussie Daria Saville before she tasted a round of 64 defeat at the hands of the 7th seed, Markéta Vondroušová.

Collins vs Pera: Head-to-Head

The opening-round match between Danielle Collins and Bernarda Pera at this Miami Open will also mark their first meeting on the WTA circuit. With no prior on-court confrontations between Collins and Pera, their H2H record is currently locked at 0-0.

Prediction: Collins to come out on top in the R128 match of the Miami Open

On top of having a former world No. 7  ranking, the 30-year-old player has won two WTA singles titles on the tour. Collins also has a brilliant 144-38 record on hard court surfaces, making her the favorite to win this opening-round match at the Miami Open.
