Naomi Osaka is back to her best. After a forgettable start to the 2022 season, the Japanese tennis star has breezed into the semifinals of the Miami Open. Yesterday, she overcame the challenge of Danielle Collins in the quarterfinals. The American was in fine form, having had a runners-up finish at the Australian Open earlier this year. But it turned out to be Osaka’s day, as she defeated Collins in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 in exactly an hour.

Osaka didn’t have an ideal start to the season. She lost in the third round of the Australian Open against Amanda Anisimova. Subsequently, she dropped out of the top-50 of the WTA rankings.

During a post-match press conference, an interviewer asked Osaka why she doesn’t post training stuff on social media. The Japanese star said, “I think I like to keep my fans mad (smiling). But, no, I don’t know. I just feel like, in a weird way, like at the end of my life, I would like to be known for more than a tennis player.”

Further, she added, “So if I’m constantly posting tennis things, it’s just like, Oh, the tennis girl is posting tennis things. I have this certain aesthetic on Instagram, I just like to post cool outfits and stuff. I know that’s kind of weird, I also feel like the tennis world is so small, people actually watch what you post, you know, and they actually discuss it.”
