The latest edition of the Miami Open is underway, with players of high caliber delivering some high-octane performances. Amidst all the excitement surrounding the outdoor hardcourt tournament, there is one major problem that might be bothering some of the top-seeded participants, including Jessica Pegula.

The esteemed tennis event takes place in the coastal metropolis in the U.S. state of Florida. As the summers are renowned for their sizzling temperatures and high humidity, Pegula recently joined other household figures to shed light on the weather conditions in Miami. The official Instagram page of the Tennis Channel recently brought to light an honest conversation in which both ATP and WTA players were asked to describe the Miami Open using only one word.

Jessica Pegula, who is the 5th-seeded participant in the tournament, was heard saying, “Hot and Humid.” Apart from the American player, other big names like Naomi Osaka and  Andy Murray described the weather conditions in the city by saying, “Hot.”

Ben Shelton, another player competing on his home turf, said, “One word I would use to describe the Miami Open is Sunny.” Just like Shelton, his compatriot, Coco Gauff, also said, “Sunny.” Even after playing under such hot and humid conditions, Pegula has performed brilliantly throughout the tournament, as she has now secured a place in the quarterfinals. While some participants shed light on the weather conditions, others were singing the praise of the ‘colorful and vibrant’ city in South Florida.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, Taylor Fritz, and others call Miami a “fun and festive” city

During the same conversation, Taylor Fritz, who faced an initial round defeat in his home tournament, described Miami as “Fun.” While players were only allowed to use one word, the Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas used three, as he said, “Pink, Vibrant, Festive.”

Just like Tsitsipas, the 4-time singles Grand Slam champion, Iga Świątek used more than one word, as she later also apologized for the same. She was heard saying, “Colorful and Fun. That’s two words. Sorry.” The young ATP sensations Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz also talked about their views on the atmosphere in Miami Gardens. While the Italian player called it, “Loud,”  his Spanish opponent said, “Powerful.”
