Recalling Maria Sharapova on the tennis court
Sharapova is one of the most well-known former players on the tour. In a career spanning around two decades, the Russian star won a total of 36 singles titles, five of which being Grand Slams. Apart from that, she also occupied the top spot in the WTA rankings for a total of 21 weeks. She achieved her biggest career feat in 2012 when she became only the 10th player in the history of the game to complete the career Grand Slam following her victory at Roland Garros.
Despite achieving great heights, Sharapova tapered off towards the end of her career. She bid adieu to the game in February 2020, drawing curtains on one of the dominant careers on the WTA tour.
