In a recent interaction with the WTA website – Andreeva shared her candid reflections on her first grass-court match. She admitted to the initial difficulties, saying, “The first practice session was quite difficult, and I fell on the court three times.” She acknowledged the changes in the ball’s bounce and the slippery nature of the grass.

However, the young Russian remained optimistic, stating, “I believe I can adapt and get better with each match.”

This interaction with Andreeva serves as a reminder of another important piece of advice she received from another teenage sensation Coco Gauff at Roland Garros 2023.

In their journey to the 2023 Roland Garros, the young duo – Andreeva and Gauff played a tough three-set match. The 16-year-old emerged triumphant in the first set, but the more experienced Gauff quickly gained hold of the game winning  the subsequent sets 6-1, 6-1 leading to her victory. After her loss, Andreeva received nothing but praise and helpful advice from the American teenage sensation. Gauff didn’t think that the Russian teenager was inexperienced regardless of the outcome of the match.

Gauff, who shot to fame at a very young age, shared some valuable advice with Andreeva. She advised the young Russian, “Just do it for you.”

She wanted Andreeva to be reminded of the importance of staying true to who you are and not letting others dictate how you play.
