In the 127th Wimbledon Ladies Singles Final, Australian World No.1 Ashleigh Barty faced eighth seed Karolina Pliskova from the Czech Republic. numerous Hollywood celebrities, including Tom Cruise and Priyanka Chopra, graced the Centre Court for the match. which was, incidentally, both players’ first attempt at the Championships title.

Unquestionably, a Grand Slam final is a different battle from any other tennis match as it offers the highest reward for a match. Thus, it also demands immense pressure from the competitors. In this matter, the Aussie showed steel nerves, whereas her opponent had frozen from the start.

Tom Cruise graces Wimbledon 2021 final between Ashleigh Barty and Karolina Pliskova

Winning the first 13 points of the match, Barty could not have desired a better start. On top of that, Pliskova remained out of rhythm, giving the Aussie easy two breaks of her service game. Although she found some momentum in the fifth game, the Czech professional was too late to the party. Consequently, she lost the first set 6-3.

Given the presence of Hollywood star Tom Cruise in the house, Pliskova’s come back did not seem impossible. In fact, it looked the opposite. Picking up her game in the second set, Pliskova leveled the second set with Barty at 6-6.

The question was: Could Pliskova find the cruise control and see her way out from the set loss?

Apart from the Mission Impossible star, Indian actress Priyanka Chopra was also present for the women’s final. However, she enjoyed the match from the Royal Box, unliked Cruise. Other dignitaries at the event included Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, Britain’s Prince William, and Billie Jean King.

Remarkably, putting in front a perfect final, Pliskova stretched the match to the third set. Moreover, with the full crowd present at Centre Court, things could not have gotten better. The score: 6-3, 6-7(4).
