‘Mom Said I Should’ve Broken It Earlier’ – When American Teen Prodigy Coco Gauff Cited Own Example and Urged to Normalise Outbursts On-Court

The American tennis prodigy, Coco Gauff, is considered one of the most talented and promising young female tennis players. Gauff has already inspired the younger generation with her brilliant dominating performances on the tennis court. However, even the greatest of players have been involved in some kind of outbursts during their journey.

The list of such athletes also includes the young tennis star, Gauff, as she was once involved in an outburst during a Grand Slam match. Gauff once smashed her racquet on the court in order to vent out her frustration during the match. However, she later explained the incident.

Coco Gauff talked about her outburst during a Grand Slam match

The American tennis prodigy previously played against the Czech tennis player, Barbora Krejčíková during the quarterfinals of the French Open. Coco Gauff was performing brilliantly at the tournament as she defeated some great opponents during the Grand Slam tournament. However, despite her incredible performances, Gauff struggled a bit in the quarterfinals of the event.

As a result, she vented out the frustration of her game on the tennis racquet. Gauff smashed her racquet on the surface of the court in order to break it. However, the world No. 4 tennis player later talked about the incident during an interview. Additionally, Gauff was giggling while she recalled the moment from the Grand Slam event. The American tennis star revealed that it was the “first time” that she was ever smashed her racquet on the tennis court.

Gauff went on to say that she didn’t want other young athletes to “follow that example.” However, she added that “everyone is going to do something like that,” during their journey.

Gauff further added, “And it even ended up helping me win a couple of games. My mom said I should’ve broken it earlier in the match and let out my anger a little more.”

Gauff’s performance at the WTA Finals

The world No. 4 tennis player has teamed up with her compatriot, Jessica Pegula, for the doubles event of the WTA Finals. The American tennis duo started the tournament by playing against Xu Yifan and Yang Zhaoxuan. However, despite their incredible performance, Gauff and Pegula were defeated in the first group match of the WTA Finals.

The American tennis stars will now play against the exciting tennis duo of Desirae Krawczyk and Demi Schuurs. Fans are excited to see the American tennis duo Gauff and Pegula as they will play their second group match of the event. Gauff has also participated in the singles event of the WTA Finals. She will play against the French tennis player, Caroline Garcia.
