The 29-year-old attained several feats on her journey with coach David Witt which started back in 2019. While her diminished form already surrounded her with enough informal interrogations, the announcement of ending her 5-year-partnership with Witt adds a new angle.

David Witt left saddened after the end of his partnership with Jessica Pegula

Tennis fans dealt with a sudden shock as Jessica Pegula ended her five-year-long partnership with coach David Witt. Finding himself in a similar situation, Witt expressed his genuine surprise at parting ways with Pegula as he mentioned, “It was a total surprise to me, never saw it coming.”

Coming with a strong portfolio of coaching tennis legends like Venus Williams, Witt revealed that even after the separation, he values the five-year-long friendship with Pegula along with appreciating the opportunity that he enjoyed with her.

Reflecting on the tough nature of the coaching gig, he shared,  As the American coach marked an end to his admirable partnership with Pegula by referring to it as an opportunity, it remains to be seen who takes his place.

While it is surely an emotional moment for the coach as well as the fans, David Witt still held his spirits tight. As the American talked about his feelings of separation, he also appeared to be optimistic about Jessica Pegula’s future in the sport. “You just never know how high a player can go,” he mentioned.

While it is surely hard to all positive after an announcement of such emotional gravity, Witt gave out a sense of disappointment over the fact that he couldn’t capture the dream of winning a major title with Pegula. “Our goals were to win a Grand Slam. Obviously, that was cut short, didn’t get to accomplish that, but I think everything else has been awesome,” he said. As the partnership comes to an end with an unexpected notice, the reason remains to be a mystery.
