Williams was eliminated in the first round of the Libema Open, held in the Netherlands, after a hard-fought battle against Maria Sakkari. Despite her best efforts, Williams was unable to secure the win, leaving her feeling understandably frustrated and upset. As a seasoned athlete with numerous titles under her belt, it’s no surprise that Williams holds herself to exceptionally high standards.

Venus Williams posted on Instagram a post to embrace her loss. She added, “Being on the court yesterday was thrilling! Just as exciting my family all came to cheer me on. Also, I know I have the support of my fans which means the world to me. I’m really happy with how I played and I am just getting used to playing matches again which is to be expected.”

She further added, “The best news is I walked off the court yesterday not hurt and not even sore after a long match and a string of really challenging injuries which means I have a chance to build on yesterday’s performance in my next events. It’s not easy to continue to come back after unexpected injuries and delays but that’s life and I love what I do and I believe in what I am doing. If you fall 10 times get up 11, never quit before the miracle.”

Alexis Ohanian stepped in to comfort and encourage Venus during this difficult time. Ohanian, who has been a steadfast presence in the lives of both Williams sisters, knows the first-hand challenges that come with professional tennis and the importance of emotional support. The Reddit co-founder joined the Instagram conversation and added a loving comment that said, “Love you, sis”. To which Venus replied, “Love you back”.

After sharing this heartfelt message, her fans too came to provide her with all the support she needed.
