‘Mommy Likes to Win’- 270 Days After Giving Birth, Anxious Serena Williams Tried to Overpower Nerve-Wracking Tennis Moment With an Emotional Gesture Towards Olympia

Serena Williams started with the guidance and support of her parents Richard Williams and Oracene Price. Their unwavering faith led her and her sister Venus Williams to become two of the biggest tennis players of all time. But as time passed, Serena Williams found a new family which included her husband Alexis Ohanian, and daughter Olympia. Her career stayed close to her heart even after giving birth to Olympia but she wanted to pen down her story so that Olympia gets to know about it once she grows up.

The life-threatening ordeal of giving birth to Olympia did not let Serena Williams give up on her dreams. Instead of that, she created the legacy of being the most resilient tennis legends of all time.

Serena Williams once penned down a heartfelt message for Olympia

The 23-time Grand Slam champion was pregnant with Olympia when she won her 23rd Grand Slam title in 2017. And after giving birth to Olympia, she knew she will go back to tennis. However, she also had someone new and special in her life with whom she wanted to share this new phase of her life.

So, in her docuseries, Being Serena, she jotted down a heartfelt letter for Olympia. She started with, “Dear Olympia, you’re too young to really know what’s going on right now, so Mommy wanted to write you a letter. A letter about today that you could read later on. So today’s a big day.”

Before beginning the journey on the court again, she stated, “Today is the day Momy goes back to work. It’s exciting, but it’s kind of nerve-wracking too. Mommy likes to win. Winning has always been the way I define myself. And I wanted to stay that way for a long time.”

Williams wanted Olympia to cheer for her

Olympia cheered on her mother alongside her father on the courtside. Her passionate cheering for her at the US Open has become iconic. This is something Williams had talked about in her letter. Adding on a message for Olympia, she stated, “Long enough for you to be able to watch me cheer me on and be proud of me but I also want you to know something Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., whether I win or lose you’re with me out there the same way my daddy my mommy and my sisters have always been with me.”

Penning down her feelings for her new family, she stated, “Now your Daddy and you, you’re my people. You make me stronger. You make me tougher. Now let’s see what we got baby, together.”

Since that day, till now both Alexis Ohanian and Olympia have been at the forefront. They have cheered, supported, and loved Serena Williams both on and off the court.

Despite being “pole opposites” the Williams-Ohanian couple has set couple goals

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian got married after Olympia turned two months old. The reality of the compatibility of the two came to the surface when they started living together.

In her docuseries, Being Serena, she stated the two are total opposites in every aspect. However, she also believes that this might also be the reason they are so compatible.
