Tennis legend Serena Williams sat down with Gayle King to talk about life after tennis. Although the recent interview did cover other facets of the icon’s life, both Serena and Alexis spoke about their family life. Gayle, editor of Oprah Daily and co-host of CBS Mornings, didn’t miss out on her chance to give Serena fans something to talk about.

While Serena has been off the court, little Olympia has grown persistent with a demand. Earlier it might have been easier to coax her into giving up her whims. However, as Serena laughingly admits, Olympia has always wanted to be a “big sister”.

Last year after the US Open, Serena Williams stood away from tennis. While she has always told fans to not call it a “retirement”, they were initially pretty upset over her decision. However, she and her husband have given them enough insight into the other side of her life. A life apart from tennis.

As Gayle says, “When Serena revealed her decision to step away from tennis in Vogue last year, she wrote this, “If I have to choose between building my tennis resume and building my family, I choose the latter.”

She also shared that her daughter Olympia wants to be a “big sister.”

Talking about this, Serena giggles and says, “To this day she’s like, now she prays.” Talking about how consistent Olympia is with her demands, the Queen of the Court can’t help but laugh.

Gayle asks, “Prays for…?”

Serena laughs and says, “Now she prays for a sibling, she’s like.. and the other day she’s like, ‘Everyone has a brother or sister’ but me,.” Serena says imitating her daughter.

She also elaborates on her response, “…And I’m like, ‘Olympia, I’m working on it. Mommy worked a little too long in tennis so it’s taking a little longer than expected.'”

And with that, Serena makes it official that she and her husband are indeed trying for a second baby.

Williams and Ohanian are hell bent on giving Olympia a happy childhood

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian are literally the dream parents to any child. Both Olympia’s parents are extremely busy and yet find time for her. From making pancakes to entertain her whims to taking her to her favorite places, Alexis and Serena really try to fulfill every wish of their adorable daughter.
