“Most Beautiful Technique”: Billie Jean King Explains Why Serena Williams Holds an Upper-Hand on Against Others

Serena Williams is a legend, and there is no doubt about that. She has proven herself on every surface there is to play tennis on. The entire world has recognized her talent and has given her respect for her game. She has a comparatively dominating game, but what makes her unique out of the lot is her serve. Williams has one of the most balanced serves on the tour. Many of the top players also agree to it and Billie Jean King is the most recent star to show appreciation for the GOAT Serena. 

In an interview with Chanda Rubin and Zina Garrison, King talked about what made Serena the unique one.

She stated, “the one thing I want to say about Serena is she has the most beautiful serve ever in the history of our sport. I’ve heard men say it and everyone says it… I always said Sampras and Sampras had the best second serve and you are only as good as your second serve. Serena has the most beautiful technique. I remember when I first met her, I think I saw her serve. I told her don’t change a thing. She already had the tempo at a very young age… That serve has gotten her out of more tough situations than anything else.”
