Ashleigh Barty wins the Australian Open 2022 Women’s singles finals. She beat 27th seed Danielle Collins to take home the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup. Winning the title, she also becomes the first Australian since Chris O’Neil in 1978 to win the Australian Open.

Barty’s final steps to the Australian Open 2022 title
World No. 1 Barty entered the final as the home favorite as well as the top contender for the trophy. Breaking early in the first set, Barty went on to seal the first set with complete ease.

The second set saw Collins take a 5-1 lead in the second set. However, the world number 1 was in no mood to take the match to a decider. Elevating her game, the Australian made a comeback in the set, winning the set 7-6.
With a combination of heavy serves and powerful groundstrokes, Ashleigh Barty took 1 hour 27 minutes to win the title 6-3, 7-6.
