

American tennis legend Venus Williams is enjoying her time away from tennis. The 42-year-old recently hosted her coach Eric Hechtman for an interview on her YouTube channel. The duo discussed various things about tennis and their personal experiences.

Meanwhile, they also discussed the reduced number of players using the one-handed backhand. While Eric believes there are plenty, Venus doesn’t think so.
One-handed backhand vanishing with time?
While discussing the powerful one-handed backhand, Venus and Eric seemed to disagree. While the coach believes there are a good number of players using the shot, Venus believes it has reduced significantly. Here’s the conversation they had about the shot.
“The one hand backhand died in terrible painful death around 1975,” Venus said. To which Eric said, “Definitely not” Venus further asked, “Okay, so who has had a one-hand backhand since 1980”
Eric replied, “Roger Federer, Pete Sampras, Stefan Edgar, Yvonne Lendl. These are all number 1 players too. Wawrinka, the time arguably the best backhand, Gasquet?”

Venus further said, “Yeah, he has got a good one but now you’re like you are having to handpick, cherry pick. Yeah, it’s not because the rest of the people while there was this one outlier grinding with one hand, poor dude, because usually, most peoples have two hands to use, the rest of the people were two-handers.”

Venus Williams starts a new fashion campaign
The elder Williams sister is not far behind Serena in terms of having succeeded in business and fashion. The 42-year-old owns a fashion brand by the name ‘EleVen by Venus’ and is pretty active with it on social media as well. Earlier this year, the American legend announced her association with the French brand Lacoste.

Recently, the company launched its new apparel collection with the former world number 1. It was also shared on the official Instagram account of Lacoste.
