Despite being just 19 years of age, American tennis sensation, Coco Gauff has won tennis fans’ hearts with a brilliant display on the court. She has had an amazing 2023 season, moving into the top 10 of both singles as well as doubles. Further, in the ongoing US Open, she’s one of the top contenders to lift the title in New York.

Recently, Gauff’s mother reacted as Barack and Michelle Obama dropped a huge surprise for her daughter. The former POTUS and his wife dropped in at the Arthur Ashe Stadium to cheer for Gauff during her first-round match. They proved to be a lucky charm as the American prevailed in a hard-fought encounter. Here’s what Gauff’s mother had to say.

Hours ago, Candi Gauff took to her official Instagram handle to express gratitude to the Obamas for supporting her daughter. She shared a series of pictures of her daughter with Barack and Michelle Obama.

Along with sharing the pictures, Gauff’s mother wrote, “Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama…. Enough said!!! Love, Team Gauff.” 

Her mother, Candi was thankful to the former President and his wife for cheering along during her daughter’s first-round match.

Despite a rusty performance, the 19-year-old managed to overcome the challenge of Laura Siegemund of Germany. The crowd was right behind Gauff, cheering her to win the match.

After meeting Barack and Michelle Obama, Gauff talked about her surreal meeting with the former President and his wife. The American tennis star said that she’s never going to forget this meeting. It will be cherished throughout her life. Additionally, she also received some precious advice from Michelle Obama.

Gauff was not very happy with her performance after the match. However, the subsequent meetup with them completely changed her mood around.
