A tennis legend, a businesswoman, a mother, and a friend, Serena Williams, has donned various roles over time. But now she has added a new feather to her cap by becoming a mentor to a Hollywood actress. Who would have thought that the 23-time Grand Slam champion would connect with none other than the Spiderman actress, Zendaya, and guide her about business and tennis?

Both the 23-time Grand Slam champion and Zendaya are connected to tennis and filmmaking simultaneously. The Hollywood actress has made her foray into the world of tennis for Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers. Williams, on the other hand, has also dipped her toes in the movie-making business as she executive-produced King Richard, a movie about her father and his contribution to Serena’s storied career.

Recently, when both of them came together on a call as part of Zedeya’s dual Vogue and British Vogue cover story for her upcoming film, the American actress asked for a piece of advice from the 43-year-old American tennis legend. To which, she replied with a joke, “Ask someone else.”

But then the 27-year-old expressed an interest in having Serena Williams as her mentor. She stated, “I’d love to pick your brain about life and business. I think I need more mentors and community and people around.”

In the discussion, the Spiderman actress also revealed that at the age of 14 she became the family’s breadwinner, which hampered her ability to sit back and appreciate career wins or even go to school.

Meanwhile, the former world number one tennis star also shared her feelings regarding how she had to unlock a lot of her hidden potential later in life by going to design school and launching her own venture capital firm. Not only that, but on the business front, Williams recently launched her own beauty brand.

Serena Williams has joined the ranks of celebrities who own beauty brands with the launch of WYN Beauty, following in the footsteps of Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty and Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty. While she has been looking  to do this for the past few years, she has finally stepped in with her own products.

She stated, “To me, beauty has always been about self-expression and stepping into the best version of myself. Throughout my career, I was always searching for makeup that looked good after hours on the court, mixing products myself and creating my own formulas while traveling the world.”

It won’t be wrong to say that this move broadens Williams’s range of interests and signifies her entry into the lucrative beauty industry, demonstrating her adaptability and spirit of entrepreneurship off the tennis court.
