Serena Williams shares financial advice aimed at youngsters
During an exclusive webcast in 2020, she shared some valuable financial advice for her young fans. Not only has Serena Williams won multiple Grand Slam titles, second in singles among both men and women, but she also makes a lot of money from her wins on the court and endorsements off the court. In the interview, the tennis legend advised young people about the importance of learning to manage your money.

Although the 23-time Grand Slam winner’s family did not grow up rich, she has paid special attention to managing her financial assets from a young age. During the interview, she was quoted as, “My family wasn’t wealthy, but we were always taught that when you work hard, you reap the benefits as a result.”

Williams stressed the importance of young people understanding how to spend money. The champion informed and motivated her young fans to self-evaluate their needs. She wished her fans to make truly informed decisions versus spending from pure emotion.

Williams further added, “I think it’s important for young people to really understand how to spend money — including how to better self-evaluate needs and wants — to make truly informed decisions versus spending from pure emotion. This is still true for me, and an approach I believe is incredibly important for parents to teach and model, as well.”
The champion founded the capital venture firm ‘Serena Ventures’
The American star founded Serena Ventures in 2014. Through her firm, she wished to create opportunities for up-and-coming businesses with the potential to impact the world. She wants these companies to be heard and has so far invested in numerous ones founded by women and people from minority communities.
