Naomi Osaka Gets a Tough Opener, Iga Swiatek and Paula Badosa in Same Half at French Open 2022

The Women’s draw is finally here at the French Open 2022 and we can already see some feisty matches in the very first round itself. Earlier today, the world no.1 Iga Swiatek headlined the main draw as the top seed. Last year’s champion Barbora Krejcikova was the no.2 seed and was in the other half of the draw.

After the conclusion of the women’s draw, we could see some great matches in the latter half of the tournament.

Iga Swiatek faces a qualifier in her opening match, as Naomi Osaka faces a tough challenge in the first round

In the women’s draw, Iga Swiatek and the no.3 seed Paula Badosa are in the same half of the draw. On the other half of the draw, Krejcikova and Maria Sakkari could face each other in the semis. Iga will face a qualifier in the first round and could face Karolina Pliskova in the quarter-finals.

Also, there are some other quarter-final match-ups that fans are eagerly waiting to see. Recent Madrid Open champion, Ons Jabeur could face Maria Sakkari of Greece in the quarter-final. Whereas Paula Badosa could face a tough opponent, and her best friend on the tour, Aryna Sabalenka, in the quarters. No.5 seed, Anett Kontaveit could potentially face the no.2 seed Krejcikova in the quarters as well.

Meanwhile, 4-time Grand Slam champion, Naomi Osaka didn’t have an easy draw, as she will face the 27th seed, Amanda Anisimova. Earlier, in the Australian Open third round, the Japanese player suffered a tough loss at the hands of Anisimova.

Swiatek is the top favorite to win the French Open 2022

Many fans think Iga Swiatek could win this Grand Slam without dropping sweat and set. Unquestionably, she is the clear favorite, as her current form will indicate to you. She won the last five tournaments she played in and is on a 28-match unbeaten streak. Also, she has the experience of winning on a big stage, as she won the French Open in 2020 without dropping a set.

Apart from Swiatek, Ons Jabeur will also be one of the favorites, as she reached the finals of the last two tournaments and won one of them. It will be interesting to see whether she can pose a threat to the Pol.
