Hours ago, the former World Number 1 took to Instagram to share glimpses of her practice session in Brisbane ahead of her competitive return to the sport. Earlier this month, Osaka broke her silence regarding her comeback. She announced that she’ll be making a return to tennis at the Brisbane International after her maternity leave.
Now, she posted a story on her official Instagram profile where she shared a picture of the hard court in Brisbane. She indicated signs of her practice session after a lengthy absence from the sport. Additionally, she wished her fans on Christmas, saying, “Merry Christmas.”

The Brisbane International will act as a warmup tournament for Osaka ahead of the Australian Open. Commencing on December 31, the Brisbane International will be one of the opening tournaments of the WTA season along with the United Cup. Osaka last played at the Pan Pacific Open in September 2022 and has been away from the sport since. However, she has big goals for the upcoming season.

What did Osaka say about her comeback?
The Japanese star is ready to give it her all in this new phase of her career after becoming a mother. While reminiscing her golden days in the sport, Osaka also laid out plans for the future. She has big ambitions in mind as she revealed her comeback plans.
Talking about this, Osaka said, “I think I’ve just missed the competition. I’m a very competitive person, so it’s been really cool to see so many players doing really well, and so many like new faces. And I think what I wish to accomplish a lot when I get back on the court, so hopefully, I do well on grass and clay next year.”
