Once in an interview, the former tennis star explained the risks that are there to the eye of a tennis player. Here’s what she said.

Chris Evert warns about Sunburnt eyes

Speaking about the risk to the eyes, the former tennis star said that the risk of sunburn due to exposure to UV rays is high for tennis players. Although, tennis players rarely talk about it.

“This problem is the nasty little secret tour players don’t talk about much,” she said.

“But lots of them suffer from moderate to serious eye damage. I’m fortunate that mine haven’t moved over my pupils. That would obscure my vision and require surgical removal,” she added.

However, technology has evolved with time. Now the players have an option to use polarized sunglasses to block UV rays and enhance vision. They can also opt for contact lenses with an enhanced vision of yellow color, helping to spot the ball.

Evert on competition affecting her friendship with Martina Navratilova

Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova are known to be the best of friends for a very long time. The two used to be very competitive in their playing days. The rivalry between Navratilova and Evert was such that it is still remembered.

However, as soon as they stepped out of the court, they were mates. But at one point, the pressure of competing started affecting their relationship. Evert once admitted in an interview that her relationship with Navratilova started to falter when the latter started to win matches against her.
