American tennis star Coco Vandeweghe had a decent grass-court season, as she reached the round of 16 in the doubles tournament at this year’s Wimbledon Championships. In the doubles event, she paired up with another American star, Alison Riske, who also had a pretty good Wimbledon this year.

In their second round, Vandeweghe and Riske played against the pair of Aliona Bolsova and Ingrid Neel. During this match, one surprising thing happened, which prompted a reaction from the 2022 NBA finals MVP, Stephen Curry.

After Riske hit the winning shot against Bolsova and Neel, she hugged her partner, Vandeweghe, at the net. Then, the 30-year-old American did the famous ‘night-night’ celebration of NBA star Stephen Curry. Later, she tweeted a video of this and tagged Curry in that video. In the caption, she wrote, Night night @Riske4rewards @StephenCurry30.”

Later, the Golden State Warriors star replied to this video with a sleeping emoji.

Notably, Curry’s ‘night night’ celebration caught fire in this year’s NBA season, especially during the postseason. As the greatest three-point shooter of all time, his three-pointers eliminated many teams from the playoffs. He also did the same thing in the NBA finals against the Boston Celtics, as the Warriors won the finals and the series 4-2.

Meanwhile, the pair of Vandeweghe and Riske lost their round of 16 match today against the pair of Chan Hao-ching and Shuko Aoyama. With this loss, their challenge for the Wimbledon title in 2022 ended. Despite the loss, the pair played well during this year’s event.

In the singles event, Riske played relatively well than her partner, as she reached the third round. In that third round, the 32-year-old American lost to the Czech player Marie Bouzkova. At the same time, Vandeweghe played the qualifiers at Wimbledon this year and entered the main draw. Unfortunately, she lost in the first round to Elena Rybakina.

It is worth noting that Vandeweghe has been struggling with form in recent times, as she dropped to 157 in the WTA rankings. 2017 was one of the best years of her career, as she reached the semi-finals of both the Australian Open and the US Open; she also reached the quarter-final at Wimbledon in the same year.
