The 30-year-old Ajla Tomljanovic rocketed to tennis stardom with a stunning victory over Serena Williams. She has been a part of the sport for more than 10 years, and last year, in the third round of the US Open—she delighted everyone by defeating the legendary American tennis player, as the last defeat of her tennis career.
While the Australian tennis player has always emphasized how her victory over the 41-year-old American tennis icon will always rank among her most treasured wins on the tennis field. And just a year after ending Williams’ tennis career, Tomljanovic disclosed an extremely vital moment involving Serena that inspired her deeply as a child.

Ajla Tomljanović highlights Serena Williams’ tennis moment
The 30-year-old tennis player played one of her most memorable tennis matches against the 23-time Grand Slam champion last year. Although she reached Wimbledon and US Open quarterfinals last year, she is still in constant search of her first Grand Slam title. However, the Aussie has performed amazingly in other WTA tournaments, such as the Billie Jean King Cup.
But she has not missed an opportunity to represent Australia in the tournament since 2019. And recently, the official Twitter account of the tournament shared a video in which tennis players, talked about their favorite moments in women’s Sports. The Australian tennis player talked about the moment that inspired her as a child. She said, “Serena winning the Golden Slam. I thought that was incredible—the consistency. And it was incredible to witness that when I was young.”

Nevertheless, she is the only tennis player in the history of tennis to have ever won all four majors and the Olympics over their career in both singles and doubles.
Subsequently, Williams completed her career, Golden Slam in doubles as a 19-year-old in 1999 and 2000. Following that, she achieved her career Golden Slam, in singles when she was 30 years old. Although she had already won all four majors when she was 21, her collection was incomplete until the 2012 London Olympics.

The moment Tomljanović ended Williams’ career
The 2022 Wimbledon quarterfinalist released a video on her Instagram account a few months ago, in which she discussed her favorite tennis court moment. And it was none other than the time she etched her name in athletic history by defeating the 23-time Grand Slam champion in her final Grand Slam tournament, therefore ending her two-decade-long tennis career.

She admitted that the environment during the match was quite unusual and that it was something she would never experience again on a tennis court. She also added a supportive remark about how retirements are a natural part of life. And that this sport must continue even in the face of legends quitting.
