One feels the need for solitude when going through a rough time. Shutting down is one way of going about it. But Williams knew that she wanted to find a way around it.
In an interview last year with Wonder Mind co-founder Selena Gomez, she talked about how she copes with difficult situations. She stated, “I’ve been through a lot of things in my life. Just a lot. So there are some times when I’m like, I need to stop talking to people.” However, this is not the approach she takes. She stated, “But I think it is important to talk to people.” Describing her passion for whatever she is doing, be it tennis or venture capital, she said, “I’m really super intense but that’s my passion.” Clarifying what she meant to say, “I’m really incredibly tense—intense, not tense. Intense is a better word.”
