The former world no. 1 took the WTA Tour by storm with her sister, Serena Williams. But the two knew that they were going to face challenges and so they became each other’s biggest supporters and solely focused on their game.
Venus Williams once detailed the brutal competition in the tennis realm
Although fans feel the passion for the sport, many don’t get to experience the pressure that the players are under when they are having a tough time. Venus Williams talked about her place in the sport and how she dealt with the selfish nature of other players during her interview with CNN in 2008. She said, “I’ve been fortunate to be at the top of the game. A lot of times, people want to be your friend when you’re on the top.” But she also showed the other side of the sport. Venus said, “There have been times when I’ve been injured and I never got a phone call.”

But she did not let the behavior of others bring her down. She boldly accepted it and focused only on her performance. She said. “As far as if I’ve beaten the odds, for sure. Will I continue? Yes.” Venus concluded smartly and said, “I don’t focus on what I’m up against. I focus on my goals and I try to ignore the rest.”

Same is the case with her right now. The American tennis star is hoping to make a comeback at the Australian Open 2023. Despite people questioning her age and performance, Venus is focused only on what she wants to do while canceling the outside noise.
What plans are in place for Venus?
The former world no. 1 wants to be a part of the 2023 Australian Open, but it depends on the status of her request to get wild card entry for the first Grand Slam event of the year. Other than that, Mardy Fish has recently faced sanctions for promoting gambling. So, the future of the US Davis Cup team captaincy is open to speculation. In a recent debate about who should be the successor, fans suggested that Venus Williams can be a good pick for the role.
