American WTA star Madison Keys had an eventful 2024. She won the Strasbourg Open trophy and reached the 2024 Madrid Open semifinals, but apart from that, she had nothing much to show for in terms of her on-court achievements. However, the year marked a great turning point in Keys’ personal life as she got married to her coach and longtime partner Bjorn Fratangelo in Charleston in the presence of her close friends. The WTA star got engaged last year after six years of relationship with Fratangelo and their wedding this year was a fun affair as Keys’ friends Taylor Townsend, Sloane Stephens, Jessica Pegula and others attended the event, making it a star-studded affair.

Reflecting on her eventful year, Keys shared a reel on Instagram where she added snippets of her victory moment from Strasbourg, her wedding fun, her fitness sessions, and her cozy moments with her partner Frantagelo. Sharing the reel, she captioned it, “2024 will be hard to top but we’ll try.” Keys’ words highlighted how wonderful her 2024 was, maybe not professionally, but surely on personal front. She also shared the reel on her IG story relishing her epic 2024 filled with laughter and joy.

Fratangelo is a junior Roland Garros champion and has been in the top 100 in the ATP rankings before. He has been coaching Keys since last year and under her guidance, the American star made it to the semi-finals of the US Open 2023, before losing to the eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka.  Keys couldn’t maintain her form this year though. Apart from the Strasbourg title and a couple of semi-final appearances, she faced early exits from most of the tournaments she featured in, including the Slams. However, it was still a memorable year for the former World No. 7 for obvious reasons.

I am so excited to spend the rest of my life with you,” wrote Keys, sharing her wedding photos on last month. Her husband Frantangelo also chimed in and wrote, “Can’t put into words how amazing this day was.” Their words echoed their love for each other which made their wedding an event to remember for their family and friends. Their love grew over time. It was the pandemic quarantine that brought them closer making them realize they were made for each other. The American WTA star spoke about it in detail.

Madison Keys revealed how she realized the value of her relationship with Bjorn Fratangelo

Keys might be married but she has no plans to leave the sport she loves passionately. In fact, with her husband, she has found a renewed spirit for her career. In a candid confession about how things worked out for her with Fratangelo, Keys revealed, “Being in quarantine together has really shown us that we don’t have to be doing something, in particular, to enjoy being together.”

She further added, “We laugh together a lot and Bjorn is constantly keeping me on my toes. We feel like a regular couple that lives a normal life, and we really don’t mind the normalcy that we have right now. Whether it’s the morning cup of coffee or even hitting balls together, these things could be taken for granted if it’s something you’ve done continuously for many, many years.” Madison Keys and Bjorn Franatangelo’s relationship showcases how to balance personal and professional lives. But more than that, it brings to the fore the value of love.
