Garbine Muguruza of Spain lifted her maiden Tour Finals trophy in Mexico. Having a prominent 2021 season, it seems like the two-time Grand Slam champion has regained her form. Just after receiving the cup, Muguruza was asked to comment on winning the tournament in WTA.

The former World No.1, Garbine Muguruza has lifted her first WTA Finals trophy in Mexico. En route to her success, she defeated some of the finest players, like the 2021 French Open champion, Barbora Krejcikova, Paula Badosa, and Anett Kontaveit.

Following her title win, this year has witnessed five different champions at the major tournaments on the WTA tour. When asked to speak about this fact, Muguruza conveyed her take.

She said, ” It makes everything more open, more exciting, and more intriguing because it shows how competitive there is now. It is no longer just Serena Williams dominating the circle. There are many girls who can win the title every week. I think it gives all of us more chances to win.”

The two-time Grand Slam winner specifically mentioned the absence of Serena Williams’ dominance. She believes this is assisting a lot of new talents in displaying their skills.
