Chris Evert is one of the best tennis players WTA has ever seen. She made her name in the era when women’s tennis was considered a side game to men’s tennis. She claimed 18 Grand Slam titles and gave the sport one of the most memorable rivalries alongside Martina Navratilova.

However, when Serena and Venus Williams entered the game, Evert’s records started getting challenged. Even so, Evert has always admired the duo’s potential. Therefore, when their father used bitter words against her back in the 2000s, it stunned her.

Earlier in an interview, while speaking about her career and good and bad days, she stumbled upon the allegations Richard had made. When asked about her history with the Williams family, as Richard claimed of Evert behaving like a ‘little white no-good trashers.‘ She said, “This is my history with the family. When Venus was, like, 9 years old. Her father called my dad and said, ‘Could we come to your house?’ Venus would love to see Chrissie’s trophies.”

“She came to the house with Richard. Walked around, looked at my trophies, had her picture taken with my Wimbledon trophy. The first year I had my Pro-Celebrity [charity event]. I invited Venus and Serena to play. They were like 9 and 11 and nobody knew of them,” She added.

Further, there have been many accusations against the legend of having hostile behavior towards the duo. However, she has supported Serena and Venus in a variety of matters and has often advised them.

Evert’s struggle with cancer

The former World no.1 after retirement from professional tennis took the position of a tennis analyst and commentator on ESPN. And via them in the January of the year 2021, she informed her fans about the deadly disease she was suffering with.

During a preventive hysterectomy after her sister’s death, cancer-causing genes were detected in Evert’s body. Which later took the form of stage one ovarian cancer. Following that, the tennis veteran underwent six chemotherapy sessions to eradicate the disease. And about a month ago, she broke the happy news of her being cured fully.

Currently, Evert is covering the 2022 Wimbledon Championships on behalf of ESPN. Looking all fit, healthy and happy.
