With Williams and Federer having recently retired, Nadal and Djokovic now have a chance to tie the Australian ace for most singles Grand Slam championships.

However, she has drawn flak from tennis players across generations owing to her divisive comments about the LGBTQ community. The former tennis great made notable homophobic comments, including the famed allegation that tennis is full of lesbians.

Margaret Court brags about her unbroken record

Back in a retro interview, the great tennis player, Court, boasted about all she had accomplished. She was quoted saying, “If she (Serena Williams) beats my (Grand Slam singles) record, she deserves it. I’m not going to lose any sleep over it… “Nobody will ever hit my 62”. Nonetheless, she resigned in 1977 after amassing an unprecedented 64 Grand Slam titles. This tally comprises all Grand Slam championships won, whether in singles, doubles, or mixed-doubles formats.

When it came to tennis, Margaret Court was among the best of all time. She presided over the court throughout the 1960s and 1970s. And swept the 1970 Grand Slam and won a total of 21 trophies that year. In the history of tennis, she is the first player to accomplish this feat in a single season.

Court’s perspectives on Serena Williams and the Open Era

According to a recent interview with the Daily Telegraph, the Australian star claimed that Serena Williams has never been a fan of hers. “Serena, I’ve admired her as a player, but I don’t think she has ever admired me.”, she remarked.

Winner of twenty-four Grand Slam titles, she also noted that Williams had played more consecutive matches than she has. Not only that, but the “GOAT” has never been a mother and won a grand slam. Since her first pregnancy, Court has won three grand slam titles.

Moreover, Court argues that today’s game is simpler because players can bring their families along. There are therapists available to help them deal with their problems, which was not the case previously; furthermore, modern players show little respect for the game’s rich history.
