‘North Americans Just Don’t Understand’- Serena Williams’ Husband Alexis Ohanian Remembers His Roots After Fulfilling His Yearning for a Delicacy

Serena Williams‘ husband Alexis Ohanian’s family history and ancestry are traced all the way back to Germany. The Reddit co-founder’s parents were German immigrants before they moved to the United States. Notably, the Ohanian family has good taste when it comes to understanding well-known German confections. The famous sweet ‘Marzipan’ is also a Christmas tradition for the American internet entrepreneur, who received it from his father.
The CEO of Shopify, Tobias Lütke, also took note of his tradition for Christmas. While talking about the sweet on his social media, Ohanian agreed that Marzipan is significantly ‘underrated’ in his country. He further took a subtle dig at the North Americans for ‘not understanding’ the famous German confections.

The American internet entrepreneur recently talked about his Christmas tradition of eating the famous European sweet, Marzipan. Alexis Ohanian further revealed that he received it as a gift from his father, who has historical connections to Germany. He said, “I eat this once a year at Christmas time because my dad sends me some — mom was from Hamburg, right next to Lübeck. Best Marzipan.”

His social media post caught the attention of many people including the CEO of Shopify, Tobias Lütke. He commented on the post by saying, “this stuff is sooooooo underrated in north america”.

The Reddit cofounder later replied to Lütke as he agreed with the same. Ohanian said, “North Americans Just Don’t Understand.”

This further inspired Lütke to buy one of the German confections for himself. He further credited the American entrepreneur for inspiring him. Lütke commnetd, “You just inspired me”.

Ohanian took note of the same as he replied, “Wunderbar!!!” ( It is a German word meaning “wonderful” or “marvelous”).

Ohanian previously talked about his family background
The American internet entrepreneur previously shared an old family photo that also included his ancestors. In the caption of the post, Ohanian talked about the struggles faced by his great-grandparents, who were refugees during the Armenian genocide. The Reddit cofounder further said that his ancestors witnessed various horrors during those genocides.
He further lavished praise on the Armenian people for their strong and courageous attitude. Ohanian went on to discuss his legacy-building endeavors, including his “776” business project.
