The American tennis stars, Venus and Serena Williams became one of the greatest female athletes under the mentorship of their father. Richard Williams guided and supported his daughters throughout their illustrious tennis journey. He further advised them about their game on the tennis court. As a result, Richard received recognition for being a great coach for his daughters.

Additionally, ‘King’ Richard once also advised the former American tennis player, Jennifer Capriati. However, he faced criticism from Capriati for advising her about the game on the tennis court.

Jennifer Capriati once criticized Venus and Serena Williams’ father

Richard Williams once talked about Jennifer Capriati’s game on the tennis court. He stated that the 3 Grand Slam title winner is often involved in verbal sparring during her tournaments. Richard further said that Capriati should rather focus on her game and she should also listen to her father’s advice.

However, the former American tennis player was enraged when she got to know that Richard advised about her game. As a result, Capriati took a dig at Serena Williams’ father during a news conference. She stated  ”I really have no comment.”

The former tennis player added, ”I have nothing to say about what he says. I mean, it’s just a waste of time. I mean, you can see how ignorant that sounds and how disrespectful that sounds. I mean, he should just, you know, concentrate on his daughters, and he’s doing a good job. I don’t need his advice.”

Capriati previously criticized Richard Williams on a different occasion as well. However, she was fuming when she heard about his latest piece of advice on her game. As a result, Capriati went on to say that Richard gets away with his statements about her. Capriati added that she has never said anything personal about the Williams family. She stated, “I could say things about them but I’m not going to because I’m not going to lower myself to that.”

Capriati once received advice from Serena

The 3 Grand Slam title winner once revealed that she felt abandoned by her agency and the United States Tennis Association. Capriati made the surprising revelation when she was struggling with her injuries. As a result, she was not able to make a comeback on the tennis court by participating in tournaments.

Capriati was disappointed with her agency as she said that they didn’t care about her during her injury. However, her fellow tennis athlete, Serena Williams came out to support and advise Capriati. Williams advised by saying that she has always done different things whenever she is in such a situation. She added that it helped her with the longevity on the tennis court.
