When Martina Navratilova turned down concerns over her age
Navratilova decided to be a part of the singles grand slam tournament after almost after a decade. So, there were questions about her preparedness and her physical fitness during the French Open 2004. She refuted all these concerns. She said, “What is there to be afraid of? Losing? We’re playing tennis; it’s not like I’m getting into a ring with Mike Tyson. Then I’d be afraid.” She further added, “Tennis is not a contact sport, and I’ve never been afraid in my life.”

The 18-time grand slam winner was more focused on creating more memories for herself and her fans rather than any wins, losses, or trophies. The player retired in 1994 and came back to play doubles in 2000.
She played at the Wimbledon 2003 along with Leander Paes, which made her the oldest player in that tournament’s history.
