Trevor Noah raises his voice for Serena
In the final of the 2018 US Open, Serena had an argument with the chair umpire. While the umpire accused Serena of on-court coaching, the former world number one denied it vehemently. Noah’s first reaction was regarding the bizarre rule of tennis.
“Just let the people coach. Every sport has coaching. I wanna see what you can do with a coach. It’s not like you’re taking drugs or something, it’s your coach,” Noah said.
Further, he spoke about the disparity in punishments for men and women in tennis. “We’re not living in a world where people are treated the same. I’m not saying that Serena shouldn’t be punished, I’m saying it the other way round. I’m saying now the focus is on the guys. Why aren’t they being punished?” Noah said.
